Spectrum Foods started 17 years ago, in the Florida Ave Market, Washington, DC, with one van and three people working tirelessly to earn our customers' business and trust.

From that meager beginning, Spectrum has grown into a staff of 65 employees and 22 trucks delivering six days a week servicing over 500 customers with Poultry, Meats, Dairy, Paper, Seafood, and Produce. Spectrum Foods is located in Landover, MD, servicing the Washington DC Metropolitan Area/Baltimore and other locations within a two hour radius.

Spectrum Foods was incorporated in 1994, and traded from the Florida Ave Market in Washington DC. Spectrum originally sold poultry only, but has expanded in recent years to sell a variety of other meat products as well as seafood, produce, dairy and paper products. As Spectrum grew a larger facility was needed in order to operate. In 2000 Spectrum moved to it's new facility in Landover, MD. This new facility has a large fridge, freezer and warehouse which are adequate for storing Spectrum's wide range of products.In 1995 Spectrum began trading with only one delivery truck ,but has grown to have a fleet of 24 refridgerated trucks. These delivery trucks service the Maryland, Washington D.C and Virginia area. Spectrum has seen its customer grow to over 400 and new customers are joining everyday.

Spectrum foods has a large freezer unit located at its business unit in Landover. This freezer has the capacity to store _______ at very cold temperatures to ensure the meat is preserved while awaiting delivery to local restaurants, bars and businesses.

Spectrum has a large warehouse where dried goods, drinks and paper products are stored on shelves and pallets. 17 employees work in the warehouse. Their duties include organizing pallets for customer deliveries, as well as storing new produce from suppliers.

The front office is in charge of logistics, ensuring that all orders reach the customers in a timely fashion. Each driver is checked-in when they return and payments of orders are recorded. There are four salespeople who contact customers daily to ensure their orders are correct, as well as making trips to visit potential customers. There are two employees who answer the phones and take orders from customers. The accounting office consists of four employees which record receivables and payables for Spectrum Foods. Jean Kessler is the accounting manager for Spectrum Foods and overseas all aspects of the accounting department.

Spectrum Foods operates a fleet of 24 refrigerated trucks, which deliver a variety of meat products (chicken, beef, goat and lamb) as well as seafood, produce, dairy and paper products. Spectrum foods services over 400 customers situated in areas around D.C, Maryland and Virginia. An order of $200 or more is required for free delivery, but Spectrum Foods will still accept pickup orders of less than $200.

Spectrum Foods has a large refrigerated storing unit located at its business unit in Landover. This large refrigerated storage unit can store large quantities of produce while awaiting delivery to customers. The fridge is kept at 4 degrees to ensure that milk, vegetables and other produce remain fresh.

In 1994, we started our business, with one dilapidated van and $2 million in annual food sales. From those meager beginnings in the D.C. Florida Ave. Market, Spectrum Foods has relocated twice to manage increased sales volume. Finally, our third and most recent move, was to our 55 thousand square foot warehouse and operations hub, where we fill and ship over 1.2 million pounds in weekly food sales, generated by our valued customers/partners. Over the last 17 years, the Spectrum Foods staff has grown from 3 to 65 employees. Our reliable staff ensures we provide excellent service to our customers by purchasing, receiving, storing, rotating, custom cutting, loading, and delivering quality products at competitive prices. We now service over 500 customers, on a weekly basis. From wholesale, institutional, grocery, restaurants, and carryout, we fill the bill, with low delivery minimums, later ordering cut-offs, and daily deliveries to the Baltimore/Washington DC Metropolitan area and beyond. We service many pockets of ethnic communities. In addition to traditional American food offerings, we specialize in Hispanic, Halal, West African, Indian, and Asian food. We strive to be different and that's what makes us better.

Imad Skeiky deals with Halal meat sales for Spectrum Foods.

Halal is the Arabic term meaning lawful or legal designating any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic Law.

Spectrum foods carrys a full line of Halal products by Senat Poultry, which has the largest 100% Halal poultry slaughterhouse in the country. All of the chicken is vegetarian fed, and are free of GMO, pesticides, and hormones. All chicken is USDA inspected and hand slaughtered.

In addition Spectrum carrys a full line of Halal poultry from Allens, Georges, Mountaire and Townsends.

Scott Luria is the General Manager for spectrum foods. His duties include ensuring that each truck gets to its destination, customer orders are correct and dealing with any unforseen problems such as broken down trucks or lost drivers. Scott also deals with receivables for Spectrum, ensuring payment for deliveries are on time.
