Serving the metropolitan Washington DC area, Spectrum Foods is a leading distributor of poultry, beef, and pork. While we specialize in meat, we have hundreds of other food and non-food items to meet all your restaurant and business needs. Operating out of our 55,000 sq. ft. facility in Landover, Maryland, we strive to exceed the expectations of our customers and deliver the freshest products on time and at the most competitive price.

Whether it is creating a custom cut of meat in our USDA inspected cutting room or meeting a delivery time-window with one of our trained drivers in our refrigerated trucks, let us exceed your expectations. History

David Fanaroff, a native Washingtonian, grew up  working in many aspects of the food business.  As a teenager, David worked weekends and summers in the  Washington DC Farmers Market.  After earning a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland Business School, David worked for a local food broker for five years learning the business end of the industry.  In 1994, David recognized a niche in the market that was not being fulfilled and conceived Spectrum Foods. Along with one other employee, one van and an office in the garage of his house, Spectrum Foods set out to serve the poultry needs of restaurants in Washington, DC and opened in a warehouse in the Florida Avenue Wholesale Market. With superior pricing and the ability to serve the customized needs of their customers, Spectrum Foods quickly outgrew their original plan and warehouse. They began to serve a variety of restaurant related products and moved into a warehouse located in Hyattsville, MD five years after opening. During this time, the business grew to approximately 10 trucks and 40 employees and took on numerous customers.

Today, Spectrum Foods is located in their third warehouse in Landover, MD which spans over 55,000 square feet. The company boasts over 100 employees, 36 trucks and makes over 300 stops daily to serve the needs of Metropolitan Washington, DC. While the company may be grown considerably in its 22 year history, Spectrum Foods still maintains a majority of their core values and still services many of their same customers they have since their humble beginnings.
